Hello All, Our MMSAC Picnic yesterday was a lot of fun. I enjoyed organizing this event. Thanks a lot to all the committee members for their co-operation and support. A special thanks to all the members who took pictures, provided food, lend a helping hand and displayed great sportsmanship by participating in various games. Ladies who participated in the "Sandwich Race" deserve a round of applause and gentlemen; do we have MMSAC Volleyball Team in the near future? BTW, we have a lot of couples who can dance well so I am looking forward to our Diwali Entertainment show !

नमस्कार मंडळी, Like past many years, this year's MMSAC Indoor sports event was fun, competitive, and was played in great spirit. It was a welcome sign that there were many more participants. Also the responsibilities were shared by the members who volunteered to coordinated the games (Sandeep, Atul, Ravi, Umesh, Uday, Ajit - Thanks Guys). Important observation was that the entire event completed in a very reasonable time due to these leaders good plan and coordination for each type of games. With "poatbhar" snacks and lots of Tilgul Ladoo and "Chaha", the games were even more enjoyable.

The picnic was an attempt to discover and bring together the Marathi-speaking families in our area. Contact was established mostly by word-of-mouth. We were encouraged by the healthy turnout, and could connect with about 8-10 families. Kids helped to break the ice by mingling easily. Rajesh Acharya made all of us play Kho-Kho and we all immediately became nostalgic of our yesteryears! Everyone had a good time, and we promised to get together again

There was more formal coordination for this gathering. We had established our Yahoo group and were soliciting memberships. Though the gathering at the picnic was not significantly larger than before, we had succeeded in "pinging" and registering scores of other Marathi-families via the Yahoo group. Fun was in the form of a lot of food and a lot of games. This was also an opportunity to mark Swatantrata Diwas, and one of our elders, Smt. Madhavi (Akka) Hulyalkar gave a rousing reminder of Bharat's struggle for independence (Click here to listen to mp3 of of this speech).

Member database was swelling, and it was just the occasion to go for the big one Diwali Function 2005! With Ajit Natu's initiative, and Vikrant Sawant's set-up of our web site for the sign-ups ad volunteering, things quickly began to fall in place. Harish Jain procured and managed the facility. It was decided to have a potluck to encourage inter-personal relationships. Amazingly about 30 families brought food in a well-concerted manner, thanks to Shubhangi Kelekar. There was Chaklya, Chiwda, Barfi etc - all available in different hues and tastes!

गणपती बाप्पा मोरया!!! मराठी मंडळाची गणपती उत्सव साजरी करण्याची ही जरी पहीली वेळ असली तरी मंडळातील उपस्थित सभासदांचा आणि कार्यकर्त्यांचा उत्साह फारच दांडगा होता. पूर्वी दरवर्षी ज्यांच्या घरी गणपतीची पुजा केली जायची त्यांच्याकड़े आरती करण्यास मंडळातील सदस्य जात असत. परंतु ह्या वर्षी सर्वांनी एकत्र येऊन गणेशपूजा आणि आरती करावी असे ठरवण्यात आले. सर्वानी वेगवेगळा प्रसादाचा शिरा आणने ही कल्पना जरी आगळी वेगळी वाटली तरी ती प्रत्यक्षात साकार झाल्यानंतर फारच सुंदर वाटली. प्रसादाचा गोड शिरा तर सर्वाना आवडतो पण एकच प्रसादाचा शिरा वेगवेगळया पद्धतीने बनवून आणल्यामुळे त्याचा गोडवा आणखी वाढला.
