1. Painting
Date: Saturday, 14th August 2010.
Venue: Folsom High School, 1655 Iron Point Road Folsom, CA 95630 (India Day event venue)
Time: 1-00PM - 2:00PM
Entry fee: $2
Age Groups:  Up to 6 years, 7 to 9 years and 10 to 13 years (Proof of age required).
Prizes:  1st, 2nd & 3rd place in each age group.
Topics:

Up to 6 years:   "My Birthday Party" 
7 to 9 years:   "My favorite Indian festival"
10 to 13 years:  "My Dream"

Painting Size: Letter size (8.5 X 11 inches) card stock. Paper will be provided.
Materials: Please bring painting materials of your choice (like crayons, pencils, poster paints, water colors etc)

2. Collage:
Date: Saturday, 14th August 2010.
Venue: Folsom High School, 1655 Iron Point Road Folsom, CA 95630 (India Day event venue)
Time: 1-00PM - 2:00PM
Entry fee: $2
Collage Size: 1/2 of Poster size (24 X 15 inches). Poster Board will be provided.
Age group: Open up to 21 years
Prize:  1st & 2nd place
Topic:  "Indian Village"
Materials: Please bring your own collage material like magazines, newspapers, color papers, printed materials, scissors, and glue.
NO printouts/drawing/painting allowed

3. Kolam/Rangoli:
Date: Saturday, 14th August 2010.
Venue: Folsom High School, 1655 Iron Point Road Folsom, CA 95630 (India Day event venue)
Time: 1-00PM - 2:00PM
Entry fee: $2
Rangoli Size: Max Size: Poster size (24 X 30 inches).
Age group: Open to all women
Prizes:  1st & 2nd place.


1. Either draw the kolam/rangoli @ home and bring it to the venue or draw @ the venue itself. If you are doing @ venue, please arrive early.
2. You can either use rangoli powder or draw with pens & color it.
3. Max Size: Poster size (24 X 30 inches).
4. No computer printouts or printed materials.
5. Please do not write your name on the rangoli.

As you know, like last many years, Marathi mandal actively takes part in India Day event that celebrates India's independence day. It is a unique event not observed in many cities as all organizations come together and celebrate in true sense of Bharatiya.

This year the event is on 14th August (Sat) at Folsom High School (opposite Intel). You all are invited to this free event.  By the way, Marathi Mandal will be performing a (large) group song/dance item in the event.

Last year there was audience around 1800. As you can imagine, it cannot be executed without lots of help and support. We need more volunteers. India day committee has specifically requested each organization to give them 5 volunteers who will help on that day.

Please inform me who is interested in helping on 14th August during the India Day event.

    Our MMSAC Picnic yesterday was a lot of fun. I enjoyed organizing this event.

Thanks a lot to all the committee members for their co-operation and support.
 A special thanks to all the members who took pictures, provided food, lend a helping hand and displayed great sportsmanship by participating in various games. Ladies who participated in the "Sandwich Race" deserve a round of applause and gentlemen; do we have MMSAC Volleyball Team in the near future?  BTW, we have a lot of couples who can dance well so I am looking forward to our Diwali Entertainment show ! 

  Next MMSAC event - Ganpati Aarti. We will keep you posted.

Like every year we have planned a General Body Meeting on Sunday Dec 21st 2008 at 2 pm at Vikrant and Pallavi Sawant's residence. Marathi Mandal Sacramento is entering its 5th year and we will meet to have a new committee to lead and make plans for the year 2009. I am sure there are many enthusiastic individuals among us. This is your chance to be a part of the committee or volunteer group and  plan the events for our own community. Join even if you just wish to give your opinion or ideas regarding the next year's events.

We plan on discussing the following;

1.        Go over finances for the year 2008

2.        Discuss regarding the Nonprofit Registration for the Mandal

3.        Decide committee for 2009

4.        Discuss events for 2009

5.        Any topics that you want to bring
